Sustainability is even visible directly on Avelines products: For example, Avelines launched the «All Natural» initiative for the entire brand range in September 2022.
Sustainability has always been anchored in the DNA of Avelines. In the future Avelines will also take a major step forward: Avelines is launching the All Natural programme!
All Natural includes four important areas of sustainability:
- Use of exclusively natural ingredients
- 100% Max Havelaar Fairtrade-certified cocoa
- Intentionally not using palm oil
- 100% climate neutrality thanks to the compensation of CO2-emissions (you can find more information about the compensation and reduction of our CO2-emissions below)
In addition, making our packaging increasingly sustainable is also a major concern for us.
All Natural will be gradually implemented over the entire brand range of Avelines. The «All Natural» programme is enabling Avelines to once again assume a pioneering role in the Swiss chocolate market.
100% natural
Our Avelines products offer you a particularly natural taste:
This is why we are using absolutely no artificial additives at all.
We have already made a lot of progress: All chocolate products by Avelines are 100% natural.
100% Fairtrade cocoa
You can enjoy the products by Avelines with a clear conscience: they are fair thanks to Max Havelaar!
The Max Havelaar Fairtrade certification proves that our products are fair: for example, the payment of minimum prices to cocoa farmers and a Fairtrade bonus are central components of the certification. In addition, Fairtrade also campaigns through its standards and the employees of the local producer networks to protect children from child labour among other things. Compliance with the Fairtrade standards is verified by FLOCERT, an independent organisation.
We intentionally do not use palm oil - Avelines products are free of palm oil!
The use of palm oil in confectionery is controversial: There are advantages and disadvantages in using palm oil. Avelines has decided to rely on alternatives to palm oil – this is why the products made by Avelines are free of palm oil.
Compensation of emissions by myClimate
Naturally, the procurement of raw materials and making chocolate produce CO2. Avelines has been reducing its CO2-emissions for many years (you can find more information on this in our sustainability report). However, at present only part of the CO2-emissions can be reduced and for this reason we are compensating for 100% of the remaining emissions in the entire value-added chain. We have therefore set up the «Efficient stoves in Peru» climate protection project with myClimate: this is reducing CO2-emissions, which improve the long-term living conditions for the local inhabitants and protect the forest in Peru.
In future we would like to start even more initiatives in this important field and document our compensation even further. Of course, we will also continue with our consistent path of reduction in the future.
